Why We Should Be Using Solar Power Chargers

There are a lot of incorrect information in most peoples minds about how efficient solar power really is. Solar Chargers as an example, are often considered unworthy and not considered practical. With the current worldwide economic downturn and considering how many families are left with over inflated utility bills to pay, we ought to be investigating how we can reduce them rather than ignoring the obvious alternatives available to us.

Solar powered chargers are a relatively cheap way of keeping the batteries of today's modern gadgets in a full working state. Considering most of us have at least one gadget with us every day, and the sun is available every day, it makes sense to jump at the chance to use it. One misconception is that they will not work when there are clouds, but this is not true - they will still charge devices even if there is not full sun available.

Most manufacturers supply the charger with a variety of adapters which are suitable for most common devices. This ranges from but is not limited too; the vast majority of cell phones, iPods and other music and video players, cameras and handheld consoles. Laptops will also work, but will drain the charge quite quickly, so you may need a larger model for best results.

Usually, the better solar charges like the Solio or powermonkey will give you about one hour recharge on a cell phone for the same time spent charging on a sunny day. After a full day this would mean you can charge it and other devices too. However, On a cloudy day, the returns will diminish but will still be sufficient.

The latest solar chargers have an internal battery that is charged when in use. This will store the energy from the sun, and then pass it on to a device when it is connected. This obviously means that you can store the charge even when you dont need it and use it for another time or even when it is dark.

The most effective and sought after solar chargers are Solar Hybrid chargers. This is because you are able to charge the internal battery either from the sun in normal operation of even from the mains socket if you need too. This is a win-win situation that should see you are never left without power to you gadgets ever again. Not only that, but you will make small savings every time to do this. Its not much at first but each and every saving is something we should be striving for. After all, You've got to squeeze every penny!
